چکیده

The main objective of root canal treatment is thorough mechanical and chemical cleansing of the entire pulp space and to provide an intact hermatic seal. A 30 year-old female patient was referred to the Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontic with a chief complaint of acute pain in her right lower back tooth. From the clinical and radiographic findings, a diagnosis of symptomatic irreversible pulpits with symptomatic apical periodontitis was made for tooth 46, and root canal treatment was scheduled. Access cavity, radiographs revealed 5 canals: mesiobuccal, mesiolingual, distobuccal, middle distal, distolingual. Obutartion was done with warm vertical compaction technique using AH-Plus sealer. To be able to precisely detect, search, and decontaminate root canal system, cone-beam computed tomography can be used to aid in diagnosis of root canal morphology. Treating extra canals may be challenging but the inefficiency to find and properly treat root canals may cause failures.

Endodontic Management of a Mandibular First Molar with Four Canals in a Distal Root by Using Cone-Beam Computed Tomography: a Case Report

BACKGROUND Aberrations in the root canal anatomy are clinically challenging for clinicians. Mandibular first molars usually have 2 roots and 3 or 4 canals, but various combinations may exist. A distal root with three canals is rare and its incidence in literature is about 0.2 - 3%. As a diagnostic tool, cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) may be a better choice for diagnosis of extra roots or ...

Mandibular First Molar with Five Canals: A Report of Three Cases

The main objective of endodontic therapy is the thorough mechanical and chemical cleansing of the entire root canal system and its complete obturation with an inert filling material. Failure to find and fill a canal contributes toward the failure of endodontic therapy .The root canal anatomy of mandibular first molars is complex. Studies of the morphologic structure of root canal systems hav...

Clinical management of multiple mesial and distal canals in mandibular first molars - A case report

Thorough cleaning and shaping and followed by three-dimensional obturation is secret to successful clinical endodontics. Therefore, it is imperative that aberrant anatomy should be identified before and during root canal treatment. Multiple case reports of aberrant canals morphology in the mesial root of mandibular first molar have been documented. However, fewer studies have discussed the occu...

Endodontic treatment of a mandibular first premolar with three root canals: a case report

Background: A correct diagnosis of the morphology of the root canal system is crucial in order to ensure a successful root canal treatment. The incidence of mandibular first premolars with three root canals has been reported to be low. This clinical case report describes a case of a successful nonsurgical endodontic management of a mandibular first premolar with three root canals. Case present...
